Larimer County's Transportation Capital Expansion Fees for 2015 will increase by 6.6% from the current values as of July 1, 2015.
As an example of what this increase means, the transportation capital expansion fee on a new single family home will increase by $210.00, from $3,208.00 to $3,418.00. The adjustment in the fees each year reflects changes in road construction costs during the previous year and is based on the Colorado Construction Cost Index data compiled and reported by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
Larimer County collects the transportation fee from new traffic generated by applying a fair share of the costs to improve the public facilities to accomodate the increase in trafic. The Larimer County Transportation Capital Expansion Fees are detailed in Sections 9.5 and 9.6 of the Larimer County Land Use Code.
Larimer County is proposing to change Section 4.2.2 of the Larimer County Land Use Code to allow substantially damaged structures in the floodway to be re-built if damaged by something other than a flood.
Larimer County together with the cities of Loveland and Fort Collins are in the process of making technical revisions and corrections to portions of the Urban Area Street Standards. Proposed changes are within Chapter 16 (Pedestrian Facilities), Chapter 22 (Materials and Construction Specifications), Chapter 25 (Reconstruction and Repair, and Appendix A (Standard Drawings).
Flooding in September, 2013 impacted thousands of County residents. A major contributor to that impact was the devastating damage to much of the County road system. Temporary emergency repairs to reestablish access to properties in the affected areas have been completed and plans for permanent repairs are underway.
